What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Project Manager - Environmental Laboratory position at R.I. Analytical Laboratories, Inc.?
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and tracking projects sampled by the Field Sampling Team. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for generating Chain of Custody documentation, fielding client inquiries both in-person and over the phone and supporting field couriers/samplers in the field as needed. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for leading the coordination of field sampling operations.
Primary Duties / Essential Functions
· Handle courier schedule management and client communication. The Project Management Team as a whole is responsible for daily posting of courier schedules and field team management.
· Handle sampling schedule management and client communication. Be able to perform all types of field sampling including, but not limited to, drinking water, PFAS, beaches, bioassay diluent, wastewater, grease traps, and ISCO composites.
· Receive samples and payments from clients adhering to proper Chain of Custody protocol.
· Review, sign, and retain chain of custody ensuring it is correct and complete. This includes, but is not limited to verifying sample bottle labels line up to the documentation provided.
· Maintain a professional demeanor and be customer service oriented including but not limited to: email, in-person, and phone communications with clients, vendors, and RI Analytical co-workers.
· Communicate issues or concerns in a timely manner to senior laboratory management and the Sales Team as applicable.
· Provide support for covering our Hudson, MA satellite office. The Project Management Team as a whole is responsible for ensuring daily coverage of the Hudson, MA satellite office either by coordinating with management or providing coverage themselves.
· Maintain and promote a clean, organized, and functional working environment, including company owned vehicles.
· Operate an RI Analytical company vehicle safely while maintaining a valid driver’s license and driving record following company guidelines, policies, and protocols at all times.
· Follow Standard Operating Procedures relevant to these essential functions, this job description, and other duties as assigned.
· Adhere to R.I. Analytical’s Chemical Hygiene Plan, Code of Ethics, and other policies defined in the Quality Manual and Employee Handbook.
· Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or senior laboratory management.
Education Requirement and Prior Work Experience
· Bachelor's Degree or 3 years relevant experience.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, Teams).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in the English Language.
· Must be flexible with time and able to adjust and adapt to a changing work environment.

This job operates in a semi-private clerical office setting and provides coverage on the road as necessary. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers. This role routinely handles laboratory samples and bottle ware which includes handling chemical preservatives and full coolers weighing up to 50lbs. The role also routinely maneuvers manhole covers weighing up to 75lbs.

Compensation: $25 to $28 per hour
