Summary/Objective

At R.I.A. Federal Credit Union, we are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Commercial Banking Associate to support the growth and servicing of our business banking portfolio. This role is responsible for opening and maintaining business accounts, supporting business members with banking solutions, ensuring documentation compliance, and delivering exceptional client experience. The ideal candidate is relationship-focused, organized, proactive, and comfortable working with business owners of all sizes. This is accomplished through:

  • Relationships: Building relationships is integral to the success of R.I.A. As a community credit union, R.I.A.’s Commercial Banking Associate will invest the time to get to know members and take care of their needs while finding opportunities to improve their financial well-being.

Essential Functions

  1. Business Account Services & Member Support:
    1. Assist business members with opening, updating, and servicing deposit accounts such as business checking, savings, money market, and certificates.
    2. Support and educate members on business banking services such as ACH origination, remote deposit capture, online banking enrollment and fraud prevention tools.
    3. Identify and recommend credit union products and services that support the financial needs of business members.
    4. Respond to member inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, providing accurate and timely information on account activity and available services.
  2. Documentation & Compliance Management:
    1. Process account-related documentation including signature cards, account agreements, and tax forms, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
    2. Ensure proper collection of required documentation, including EINs, business licenses, articles of incorporation, and beneficial ownership forms.
    3. Maintain compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations (e.g., BSA/AML, CIP, and OFAC).
    4. Maintain accurate records and documentation for all interactions and account changes.
  3. Account Maintenance & Internal Collaboration:
    1. Perform account maintenance and updates, including ownership changes, account closures, and service modifications.
    2. Collaborate with internal departments such as Compliance, Operations, and Business Lending to support account activity and resolve issues.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend considerable time sitting at a desk, complete work using a computer, regularly answer phone calls, and interact with the public, members and employees at all levels of the organization. The employee will occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Travel

Less than 10% travel is expected for this position, some local travel in the Quad City area.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in similar field
  2. 3-5 years of experience in financial services, banking, or credit union operations; business account experience preferred.
  3. Familiarity with business deposit account types and structures (LLC, Sole Proprietor, Corporation, etc.).
  4. Understanding of key regulations and compliance requirements, such as BSA/AML and CIP.
