RGME is seeking a critical thinker who uses that skill for analysis and problem solving, to join our collaborative team as a CAD Technician II in Houston, TX. You will serve a key role in preparing computer generated engineering drawings according to established company standards and procedures used in the construction of projects. You have above average technical capacity that can be applied to all job functions and demonstrate flexibility through the ability to work on multiple projects quickly and accurately.
What you will do:
- Under general supervision from the drawing originator, performs complex drafting of typical plan sheets without markups, and works from rough sketches/notes to produce final drawing indicating scaled plot plans, sections, review, and elevations, with required explanatory text and lettering
- Coordinate assignments with various disciplines, making minor modifications to established procedures and techniques, demonstrating sound judgement
- Calculate various aspects of construction to assist in determining project cost and/or create accurate bid documents
- Perform occasional site visits to determine project specific constraints and requirements, while learning and understanding construction methods
- Demonstrate completeness and accuracy of assigned projects, prior to submission to project manager
- Mentor fellow CAD technicians
- Other duties as assigned
Your Qualifications:
- Computer certificate/degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of related experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Programs
- Knowledge of plan production for civil engineering
- Proficient in sheet set manager, layer manager, file system and plotting per departmental standards
- Possess excellent time management skills, with the ability to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines
- Understand and adhere to company‘s standard CADD procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing tasks
- Attentive and approachable. Able to navigate a dynamic and collaborative work environment
- Maintain professional appearance and behavior
