Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Director
GENERAL DUTIES:
Assist in pre-program planning and organization, including but not limited to student placement, staff hiring, busing, staffing assignments, and scheduling
Supervise and monitor staff of 40-60
Conduct an orientation meeting prior to the start of programming
Distribute and collect programming materials, including but not limited to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), curriculum materials and progress notes, at the close of the program
Establish and maintain an effective learning climate
Monitor the quality of instruction
Establish procedures for acquiring substitute teachers
Confer with staff, students, and community members on summer school problems and needs
Monitor the safety of all students and staff
Manage overall program content and structure
Submit staff time slips to Central Office
Address questions and concerns from parents and students
Travel between buildings will be required
Understand the regulatory requirements of Special Education law
Collaborate with the ESY Clerk and the bus company to establish the bus routes
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
SCHEDULE:
5 weeks: July 7 - August 6, 2026; Tuesday through Thursday only
Hours: 7:45 AM - 3:00 PM
Additional time April through June to assist with ESY planning tasks
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess appropriate MA DESE licensure in Administration preferred
Possess appropriate MA DESE licensure in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8, 5-12, and/or Intensive Special Needs, all levels), preferred
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
Minimum of three years of experience in special education preferred.
Applied Non-Violence (ANV) trained and certified preferred
Certified in Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED, preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to carry out procedures involving multiple components and people.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, in working with teachers, administrators, support staff, parents/community, and outside agencies.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Strong ability and commitment to maintain the confidentiality of information.
Flexible, timely, ability to multitask, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
REPORT TO: Director of Special Education
SALARY: $43.00 hourly
