R.E. Michel Company, LLC, a leading wholesale distributor of HVACR parts, equipment and supplies, with over 300 branch locations from coast to coast, has multiple career opportunities in the headquarter offices for full time Accounts Payable Specialists to join our busy AP Department!
General Summary: Under minimal supervision of the Accounts Payable Manager, and with an understanding of basic accounting and accruals, the Specialist resolves discrepancies between receiving and invoices to meet the obligations of the Accounts Payable Department. The Specialist works to ensure that deadlines are met and discounts are taken in a prudent/timely manner. The Specialist immediately reports any vendor credit hold(s) to A/P Manager and advises as to the cause, works with the manager to resolve credit hold(s) in a timely manner.
Essential Functions:
Resolve problem invoices for payment (i.e. quantities, discrepancies on shortages, overages, and pricing discrepancies.)
Process debits and credits.
Researches all credit balances on accounts.
Examines all vendor statements to identify credits matched to debits, applies for all unidentified credits.
Maintains vendor data and forwards necessary change information to A/P Manager.
Performs light data entry.
Maintains professional reserve when called upon by vendors for payment and with coworkers.
Any other task that may be assigned from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Sound PC and computer skills, and organizational skills. Professional appearance and good telephone manner. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced multi-task office environment.
Preferred Education and Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency; preferred at least 4 years of bookkeeping or accounts payable experience
