POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for providing direct supervision and care for a group of children through a caring, positive, authoritative relationship. Makes children feel welcome and comfortable. Assists in the planning and implementing of scheduled period(s) of activities, which are developmentally appropriate and ensures the safety and well-being of the children as well as providing a model of quality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Prepares and Implements a program of activities in accordance with agency curriculum for a group of children.
- Prepares lesson plans.
- Maintains attendance records for a designated group of children and Adheres to regular work and activity schedules.
- Establishes and maintains control and safety of an assigned group of children.
- Serves as an effective role model for the children by assisting children in a way that develops the child’s role and initiative and Interacts in ways that help them learn.
- Assists children with feeding and bathroom needs i.e., changing diapers, helping child to restroom, feed child, etc.
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude with parents, children and staff at all times. Participates in parent contact and communication as assigned. Communicates the child’s progress with parents in a positive and supportive manner.
SCREENING QUALIFICATIONS
CDA or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field.
