Assistant General Manager (Hotel)
Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest service, efficient operations, and profitability. The AGM provides leadership to all departments, maintains brand standards, and helps create a positive work environment for team members while delivering an outstanding guest experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing all hotel operations.
- Ensure exceptional guest service by addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Supervise and support Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Breakfast/Food Service departments.
- Monitor daily occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and labor costs to maximize profitability.
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate hotel staff.
- Conduct daily property inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and brand standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, brand requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist with budgeting, inventory control, purchasing, and expense management.
- Resolve guest complaints and implement service recovery when appropriate.
- Support sales efforts by developing relationships with local businesses, corporate accounts, and community partners.
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance programs are followed.
- Prepare reports, schedules, payroll, and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Serve as Manager on Duty when required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Assist during hotel emergencies and ensure proper safety procedures are followed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of hotel supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) preferred.
- Knowledge of hotel financial reports, budgeting, and revenue management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, organized, and self-motivated.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to respond quickly to guest and operational needs throughout the property.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors as operational needs require.
Schedule
This is a full-time, salaried position. The Assistant General Manager must maintain a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities as business needs require.
