Position Summary
The Preschool Special Education Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing individualized educational programs for preschool students with disabilities. The successful candidate will foster a positive classroom environment while collaborating with families, related service providers, and school staff to support each child's growth and development.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for preschool students with disabilities.
- Design and deliver specialized instruction that addresses students' unique developmental and educational needs.
- Create a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and independence.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of goals and outcomes.
- Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional planning.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, therapists, and administrators to ensure appropriate services and supports.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and educational goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings and coordinate services for students receiving special education support.
- Promote inclusion, equity, and positive social-emotional development for all students.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and meet a wide range of student needs.
Preferred:
- Experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities.
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
- School-based special education experience.
