JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant
JOB SUMMARY:
This role will carry out day-to-day corporate accounting matters: ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, and assist with monthly close and financial reporting processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements):
- Bachelor of Accounting degree preferred
- 1-3 years or more relevant work experience needed
- Detail oriented with strong organization skills
- Strong in both written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in MS Excel & other MS Office products, Yardi experience a strong plus
- Real estate accounting experience a strong plus (preferably residential real estate)
- Excellent analytical skills required
- In-person work required for first 90 days, after which 1-2 days/week maximum remote work is available based on performance. Occasional travel required for Company-wide meetings.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Major responsibilities of the job):
- Prepare and record journal entries for recurring and non-recurring transactions.
- Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy by reviewing account activity and preparing necessary adjustments.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare supporting schedules and analyses for key general ledger accounts.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances and communicate findings to management.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly internal financial reports.
- Actively communicate with internal departments to gather information and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Assist with annual financial audit – prepare schedules, provide audit support, and address audit inquiries.
- Support the implementation of accounting process improvements and system enhancements.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting and support other corporate initiatives as assigned.
