Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Seattle office. About the Role
The Legal Assistant will support attorneys handling a high-volume caseload of civil litigation defense matters. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage competing deadlines, and a proactive approach to supporting attorneys and the broader litigation team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft, revise, and format legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence under attorney direction
- Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, depositions, and trial settings
- Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and client meetings
- Organize and maintain case files (physical and electronic), ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Prepare, issue, and track subpoenas and other records requests
- Handle state and federal e-filing in Washington courts; PACER experience a plus
- Monitor case progress and proactively escalate issues requiring attorney involvement
- Assist with trial preparation, including assembling exhibits, binders, and case materials
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, experts, and opposing counsel
- Assist with time entry, billing support, and general administrative functions
- Perform additional litigation support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2β5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in civil litigation defense, preferably in a high-volume law firm environment
- Strong knowledge of Washington court procedures and e-filing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
