Title: Power BI Platform Engineer & Administer
Location: Houston, TX Hybrid Role onsite 4 days a week
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Administration & Engineering
- Administer and maintain BI platforms: Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, and Spotfire.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance through proactive monitoring and optimization.
- Perform regular patching, upgrades, and maintenance of BI servers and services.
- Implement and manage disaster recovery, backup, and failover strategies.
Development & Support Enablement
- Support BI developers and analysts with report publishing, data source integration, and performance tuning.
- Maintain development, test, and production environments with proper change control and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Security & Access Management
- Manage user provisioning, role-based access controls, and group policies across BI platforms.
- Monitor usage and access logs to ensure compliance with enterprise security and data governance standards.
- Collaborate with InfoSec and compliance teams to implement platform-level security controls.
Infrastructure & Automation
- Support hybrid infrastructure including Azure, AWS, and on-premise Windows/Linux servers.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for tasks such as user onboarding, report deployment, and system health checks.
- Integrate BI platforms with enterprise tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, monitoring systems).
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5 years of experience administering and supporting BI platforms including Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, and Spotfire.
- Experience working in environments where Snowflake is used as a data platform.
- Strong understanding of server architecture, cloud services, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with patch management, system upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and maintenance.
Preferred:
- Exposure to Qlik Replicate and Change Data Capture (CDC) processes.
- Certifications in Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, Azure, or AWS.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace).
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
