Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to lead project estimating for complex specialty construction projects. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, competitive pricing, and support project planning and business development efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and constructability concerns; prepare RFIs
- Coordinate pricing with vendors and subcontractors
- Work with project managers to establish production schedules and execution strategies
- Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
- Participate in peer reviews and client meetings
- Support business development and manage client relationships
- Mentor junior estimators
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5-8 years of construction estimating experience.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, cost estimating techniques, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in estimating software (Blue Beam and On-Screen Takeoff), project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project estimates simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
