GENERAL GROUNDS
Supervisor: Director of Buildings and Grounds
Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule
Location/Assignment: Maintenance Department
Conditions of work: 8 hours per day, 260 Days
SUMMARY:
The position of General Grounds has the purpose of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility and grounds, including athletic fields and stadium preparation, for students, staff and public; minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure; and ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Monitor grounds daily for areas needing repairs and maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain landscapes, cultivation of trees, lawns and plants.
• Maintain irrigation system and pumps.
• Provide routine service and mechanical work to all grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, power sweepers, rakes, snow blowers, irrigation equipment, etc.
• Perform routine mechanical, carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing and basic electrical work.
• Field preparation before an event including mowing, field markers, bleachers, bathrooms and press box.
• Provide general maintenance duties as needed.
• Ability to work in inclement weather, remove snow and prevent ice buildup using snow blowers, shovels and truck blades.
• Other job duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Washington State Driver’s License required.
• Minimum of 1 year job related experience preferred.
• Willing to obtain a Public Operator Pesticide License within 3 months of hire date.
• Experience with the use of a computer to complete work order systems and other work related functions.
• Knowledge of the principles of heating, ventilation, sanitation and care of school buildings.
• Proven ability to work independently and plan and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships that foster efficiency and productivity and promotes cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
• Attendance and punctuality are important in this position.

180-259 Day Employees- Paid leave benefits to include 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days.
260 Day Employee-Paid leave benefits to include a minimum of 12 sick days, 13 paid holiday and 3 personal leave days and a minimum of 10 days’ vacation after the first year.
*Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
