Job Summary
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating construction activities related to commercial buildouts and improvements within existing properties. This role oversees multiple concurrent projects and directly manages construction staff, including carpenters, painters, and general laborers, while coordinating with subcontracted specialty trades as needed. The Construction Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable plans, budgets, and regulations. This position requires a hands-on leader who balances field oversight, project planning, and effective communication with staff, leadership, tenants, and external partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly oversees project teams, including construction staff and subcontractors
- Provides leadership, guidance, and performance oversight to ensure quality and efficiency
- Collaborates with leadership on workforce planning and resource allocation
- Communicates workforce needs, project progress, and performance concerns to the Operations Manager
Duties/Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate construction activities for commercial buildout projects within existing structures.
- Participate in the conceptual development of construction projects, including scope definition, sequencing, and execution planning.
- Oversee project organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- Plan and coordinate multiple concurrent projects to ensure timelines, milestones, and deadlines are met.
- Directly manage and coordinate multiple trades on-site, including carpenters, painters, and general labor.
- Review, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Review and evaluate construction designs and drawings presented through CAD software to ensure feasibility and alignment with project scope.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality of work, and compliance with plans and safety requirements.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, building codes and safety standards.
- Enforce general construction safety practices and job site safety expectations across all workers and subcontractors
- Communicate project schedules, progress updates and issues effectively with staff, leadership, and tenants to minimize disruption and ensure alignment.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges, delays, or conflicts that may impact project outcomes
- Maintains accurate project documentation, schedules and reports as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Financial & Accounting Responsibilities
- Manage project budgets, including cost control and cost reduction strategies
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable related to project expenses
- Review and approve invoices, contracts, and purchase orders
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting to ensure project profitability
- Assist with audits and ensure financial compliance across projects
- Review financial statements and project performance reports
- Support project financing and budgeting processes
- Utilize accounting software; QuickBooks experience preferred
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of commercial construction practices, methods, and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Business, or related field)
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in construction or facilities management
- Experience with financial oversight, accounting processes, or business operations required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on active construction sites for extended periods
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and inspect work areas
- Ability to lift materials and equipment as needed

- Travel between job sites may be required
