POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the President, as the Chief Academic Officer, the Vice President of Academic Affairs is responsible for providing administrative leadership to faculty and to assume oversight and management of academic operations at the college. The role is responsible for aligning the organizational culture of academic affairs with the goals of the College. The position is responsible for the management of all academic programs, academic deans, dean of the Plymouth campus, on-line learning, library services, academic initiatives and compliance, and institutional research. The role is responsible for the academic budget and strategic plan/direction of the college including the development of new baccalaureate and other academic degree and certificate programs. The position participates in Board of Governors meetings regarding all academic affairs initiatives. The role is responsible for articulation agreements with other institutions of higher learning. This role works collaboratively with various organizational teams to support the achievement of team goals. The position sets the visionary mission and leadership for all faculty and academic affairs. The role is also responsible for the evaluation of curriculum, assessments, and institutional research, and compliance for all accreditation initiatives.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: A master's degree from an accredited institution is required. A doctorate in education from an accredited institution is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The Vice President must possess the following requirements:
3-5 years of full-time experience as an educator demonstrated through classroom teaching in higher education or equivalent experience
5-7 successful years of progressively responsible experience in educational administration
Possess competencies in course and curriculum development, as well as assessment
Supervisory experience along with strong competencies in managing and developing people
Experience with departmental budget and financial oversight
As a leader and with academic leadership, have proven success as an advocate for public education
Possess superior interpersonal communication skills while encouraging an atmosphere of inclusivity, respect, and dignity.
Possess facilitation, listening, and relationship building skills.
Present a proven record of excellence in strategic planning and program assessment
Experience in accreditation compliance and strategic planning
Experience in working in a unionized work environment preferred.
Experience working in the public sector preferred.
A thorough knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE) Principles of Accreditation and New England Commission of Higher Education policies and procedures.
Experience in Regulatory writing (such as NECHE and Secondary Accreditations) with a successful completion of a report, planning site visits and substitute change applications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: academic deans, Plymouth campus dean, library services, on-line learning, institutional research, assessments, compliance, and grants.
TRAVEL: Regular local travel required including travel to and from the Quincy and Plymouth campuses as well as the Boston instructional site.
Job Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborates with the President and other Sr. Leaders to affirm the mission and the goals of the College
Manage all academic deans, dean of the Plymouth campus, on-line learning, library services, academic initiatives and compliance, and institutional research.
Responsible for the performance management and professional development of the faculty and ensuring the completion of performance evaluations in accordance with the collective bargaining agreements
Responsible for the adherence to the collective bargaining agreement in managing a unionized workforce while collaborating with the Human Resources and Legal departments.
Responsible for the creation and implementation of the Strategic Plan for the College.
Responsible for the College's internal and external compliance to include but not limited toall necessary and required accreditation policies and procedures for all programs by ensuring all requirements are met by established deadlines set by accrediting institutions.
Responsible for initiating and implementing new baccalaureate and other academic degree and certificate programs.
Work with Human Resources in assuring all faculty and other academic affairs staff adhere to Quincy College policies and procedures, including anti-discrimination and harassment policies.
Facilitate and coordinate the non-instructional days for the faculty
Lead initiatives to evaluate and enhance student learning outcomes, ensuring academic quality and continuous improvement across all programs and disciplines
Oversee grants and institutional research
Participate in Board of Governors meetings regarding all academic affairs as needed
Work in conjunction with the Vice President of Finance regarding the development and adherence to all academic budgets.
Participate and work collaboratively in support of academic team goals and initiatives
Support the Marketing department with all academic-related marketing initiatives
Collaborate with the College Senate and other Faculty Committees
Responsible for articulations, college catalog, handbooks, policy development/review and course development
Responsible for regulatory writing, documentation, accurate and timely reporting and successful site visits (from all accrediting bodies to include NECHE and any other accreditations and or regulatory authority)
Responsible for adherence to state and federal guidelines policies including accreditation standards
Perform with a focus toward moving the institution to greater efficiency, effectiveness and academic quality
Serve as an advocate for public education and the institution by supporting affordable education and open enrollment
Embrace diversity of opinion and of individuals; and promote the importance and value of the College and its mission
Convey and demonstrate a vision that is unified with the institution.
Implement positive change and innovation
Utilize relevant trending data for strategic initiatives and meaningful and effective decision making
Effectively utilize the resources and talents of the faculty and staff to foster positive growth and meaningful change
Implement institutional research and program assessment initiatives.
Lead the faculty and deans in assessing student learning within the core, in courses, and in programs.
Manage the applications for and administration of grants, institutional research, on-line and credit programs, and professional development.
