Function of Position: The Violence Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing sexual violence prevention and activism directed toward social change and primary prevention of sexual violence. Strategies include sexual violence public awareness, youth focused prevention education, professional training services for adults as well as planning and executing community mobilization and social justice activism campaigns. Prevention work requires cultural humility that reflects a victim-centered analysis of the problem of sexual violence and recognizes the system of privilege within our culture, the impact of oppression, and the intersections of oppressions in survivor identities and communities.

Essential Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Provide public/prevention education to area primary, middle, and high schools, as well as colleges/universities and youth serving agencies.
  • Provide public/prevention education to priority communities including, but not limited to: faith-based, senior, and youth populations.
  • Conduct institutional advocacy/outreach to area primary, middle, and high schools, youth serving agencies and other priority communities.
  • Plan and facilitate community mobilization and social justice activism efforts consistent with the agency’s mission, values and guiding principles.
  • Conduct professional trainings for a variety of professional audiences, including educators.
  • Administer evaluations of public-prevention education/professional training programming. Regularly evaluate feedback from audience participants.
  • Provide non-client crisis intervention, information, and referral services to participants in public prevention education/professional training programs.
  • Perform on-going outreach and networking to foster collaboration & maintain awareness of the agency’s services in the community.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all services delivered.
  • Participate on external committees, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree-Human Services, Social Science, Education or other related degree or related experience
  • At least two years’ experience in a human service field
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Passion and alignment with Quanada’s mission and values
  • Willingness to commit to a self-care plan to mitigate harm from vicarious trauma
  • Completion of 65 hour domestic violence/sexual assault within two months of hire
  • Valid driver's license
