What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEER COUNSELOR position at QUINCO MENTAL HEALTH CENTER?
Summary: Responsible for assisting the Peer Support Center Director with the overall operation of the consumer-run peer support center and implementing program goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Help plan, schedule, and implement program activities.
• Assist with the maintenance of program records.
• Provide support and appropriate referral to individual members.
• Obtain ongoing training in peer counseling techniques.
• Provide safe transportation of members to and from the Peer Support Center and all related activities and trips assigned by the supervisor.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of the vans.
• Be responsible for routine maintenance and cleanliness of the vans.
• Report all repair needs to the supervisor.
• Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, and environmental and infection control.
• Clean-up duties are also included in each shift. Each shift will clean the center each day. Members can assist with the cleaning and will be supervised by the Peer Counselor as required by the Director.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability. Must possess a current driver’s license and have a good driving record. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma, GED, or higher.
Language Skills: Ability to read and write clearly and legibly and write brief reports.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR and First Aid certification and Non-violent crisis intervention training.
