Summary: Provides psychiatric care and treatment to patients in a community mental health facility, under the direction of a psychiatrist, by performing the following duties. Will work as needed at all locations to include Bolivar, Selmer, Savannah, Henderson, Decaturville, Lexington, and Jackson. PART-TIME POSITION.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Performs mental examinations within prescribed guidelines and instructions of the psychiatrist.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical and mental health care needs.
• Records findings and formulates plans and prognosis based on the patient's condition.
• Discusses cases with the psychiatrist and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive patient care plan.
• Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation the client’s primary care physician.
• Prescribes psychotropic medications.
• Recommends other forms of treatment, such as care coordination and outpatient counseling or related therapeutic procedures.
• Refers patients to a psychiatrist for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides supervision of a Medical Assistant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Education and/or Experience: Master's degree (M. A.) or higher in a nursing specialty and holds a national specialty as an advanced practice nurse.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from care coordinators, clients, family members, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintains a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee and an Advance Practice Nurse License.
Other Skills and Abilities: Maintains current certification in CPR and First Aid.
