About the Role
The Tack Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating a tank (TCT) truck to transport and deliver asphalt materials to paving job sites. This role supports asphalt paving operations by ensuring timely material delivery and maintaining strict safety compliance on roadway projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a TCT/tack truck during asphalt paving operations
- Transport asphalt materials to and from job sites
- Load, unload, and position materials as directed by the paving crew
- Maintain constant awareness of workers and equipment on site
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Report mechanical issues, safety hazards, or delays to supervisors
- Follow DOT regulations, company safety rules, and site-specific requirements
- Assist paving crew with general support tasks when needed
- Promote safe work practices and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working on Maryland roadway or asphalt projects preferred
- Valid CDL Class A or B with Tanker endorsement and clean driving record
- Experience operating tack trucks preferred
- Understanding of asphalt paving operations and job site safety
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
Additional Requirements
- Must follow all PPE requirements, including respirator use when required
- Must be clean-shaven where respirator seal is required
- Daily travel required with reliable transportation
- Ability to follow strict safety procedures in active roadway environments
