Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Associate manages the flow of materials into and out of our facility. You'll schedule UPS and LTL freight shipments, work with our production team to make sure every shipment goes out with the correct documents, coordinate deliveries with customers, receive incoming goods, keep inventory accurate, and make sure we're billed correctly for freight. This role suits a detail-oriented problem solver with deep UPS and LTL experience who wants meaningful part-time work with a consistent daytime schedule.
Responsibilities
- Process and schedule customer shipments by UPS, LTL freight and other carriers
- Work with the production department to make sure each shipment includes the correct shipping documents, such as labels, bills of lading and packing slips
- Obtain freight quotes, book LTL shipments, schedule pickups, and prepare bills of lading and shipping documents
- Coordinate delivery details with customers, including delivery windows, jobsite requirements, liftgate needs and special instructions
- Track shipments and proactively resolve problems such as delays, damages, shortages, misdeliveries and freight claims
- Receive incoming materials and supplies, check them against purchase orders and packing slips, and report any discrepancies or damage
- Review carrier invoices against quotes and dispute billing errors, accessorial charges and reclassifications
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory counts, and keep inventory records accurate
- Maintain shipping and receiving records and logs
- Work with production, customer service and management to meet customer deadlines
- Perform other duties as needed in a small manufacturing business
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of shipping, receiving or logistics experience, preferably in manufacturing or distribution
- Strong knowledge of UPS shipping and LTL freight processes, including quoting, booking, freight classification and bills of lading
- Expert-level proficiency with UPS WorldShip
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Enterprise, including purchase orders, item receipts and inventory
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with paperwork and numbers
- Clear, professional communication with customers, carriers and internal teams, by phone and email
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets and carrier websites or portals
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently
Preferred
- Experience with freight audit and freight claims
- Experience shipping to construction jobsites
Schedule
- 4 days per week, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (20 hours/week)
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 per week
