Location: Marshfield, WI
Unit: Pediatric RN – Acute Pediatrics
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Shift Notes: 12-hour night shifts; Every other weekend & holiday
Charting System: Cerner
Requirements
- Active WI or Compact RN license
- Minimum 1 year recent Pediatric nursing experience
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
- Strong pediatric assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to provide calm, reassuring support to families in crisis
- Experience with electronic medical records (Cerner preferred)Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pediatric assessments including vital signs, pain evaluation, and developmental milestones.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and pediatric-dosage medication calculations with high accuracy.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
- Respond to emergency situations involving respiratory distress, seizures, trauma, and cardiac events.
- Monitor patients using specialized pediatric equipment including pediatric ventilators, IV pumps, and monitoring systems.
- Provide education and emotional support to parents and guardians regarding treatments, discharge care, and home management.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Assist with triage, stabilization, and transfer of critically ill pediatric patients.
- Manage care for children with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, neurological disorders, and infectious disease.
Preferred Skills
- PICU, NICU, or ED pediatric experience
- Strong communication and family-centered care approach
- Ability to work in high-pressure clinical situations
