Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to determine individual care needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and immunizations.
- Operate EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information meticulously.
- Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, ventilator management, and wound care including ostomy care.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection/processing, radiology procedures such as sonography or mammography, and participate in infection control practices.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions in various settings including emergency rooms, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or long-term care facilities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and health coaching to promote patient recovery and well-being.
Requirements
- Valid RN (Registered Nurse) license in the state of practice with current certification.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, ICU, emergency medicine, or post-acute care settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology to support accurate patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Experience working with specialized populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Skills in critical care procedures such as airway management, ventilator support, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Center experience preferred), and infectious disease care.
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during sterile procedures like phlebotomy or specimen collection; adept at IV insertion and catheter care.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and patient education; capable of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Physical ability to perform nursing duties that may include lifting patients using Hoyer lifts or managing equipment like dialysis machines or neonatal ventilators.
