Position: RN – OR (Outpatient/Ambulatory Surgery)
Care Setting: Acute – Outpatient Surgery
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Pay Rate: $66/hr
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift: Days | 8-hour shifts
Shift Times: 06:45–15:15 or 09:00–17:30
Scheduling: Modified self-scheduling (average 2 late shifts/week)
Call Requirements: None
Weekend Requirements: None
Holiday Requirements: None
Orientation: 3–5 days (typically 3 days)
Unit Information:
- Unit Type: Ambulatory Surgery OR

- Suites: 10 OR suites 2 procedure rooms
- Average Cases per Day: 40–50
- Common Cases: Orthopedics, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology
- Scrubbing Required: No (helpful but not mandatory)
- Scrubs Provided: Yes
- Floating: May float to Inpatient OR as needed
- Local Rate: Candidates within 80 miles receive $8/hr reduced rate
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, competent nursing care during pre-operative, intra-operative, and recovery phases.
- Assist the OR team with preparation, equipment checks, room turnover, and patient positioning.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs to ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile procedures, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Monitor patients’ condition and communicate changes promptly to the surgical team.
- Document all care accurately in the EMR (Cerner) following hospital and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and families before and after procedures.
- Assist with orthopedic cases (total joints, scopes, fractures), as well as ENT, GGU, and ophthalmology procedures.
- Work efficiently in a high-volume OR environment with rapid case turnover.
- Participate in orientation, team huddles, and quality improvement initiatives as required.
Requirements:
- Active WI or Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR nursing experience (ambulatory experience preferred)
- Strong experience in orthopedics (total joints, scopes, fractures, podiatry preferred)
- Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
- Solid understanding of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative nursing standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy surgical environment
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
- Experience using Cerner EMR preferred
