Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems across various commercial and industrial facilities. Duties
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and system design documents to ensure accurate installation and maintenance.
- Utilize CAD software for system layout planning when required.
- Conduct construction inspections to verify proper installation practices and code compliance.
- Perform system upgrades and modifications to existing fire alarm infrastructure.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete installations efficiently.
- Perform field service calls for system diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance.
- Ensure all work adheres to NEC standards, low voltage wiring practices, and safety protocols.
- Assist in fire alarm sales processes by providing technical expertise during client consultations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed for compliance and recordkeeping purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a fire alarm technician or service technician within the fire protection industry.
- Strong electrical experience with knowledge of low voltage wiring systems.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and system diagrams; experience with CAD is a plus.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, sensors, alarms, control panels, and related components.
- Familiarity with construction inspection procedures and code compliance standards such as NEC regulations.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fire sprinkler fitting or similar systems is advantageous.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Experience with system design or alarm system sales is beneficial but not required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid field service experience preferred; strong communication skills are essential for client interactions.
