We're seeking an experienced Project Manager who thrives in highly regulated environments and can successfully lead industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Position Summary
The Industrial Construction Project Manager will oversee multiple industrial construction projects with an emphasis on environmental compliance, federal contracting requirements, and complex stakeholder coordination. This role requires a strong understanding of projects performed under agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), EPA, Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), and projects regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, client relationships, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Manage industrial construction projects from award through final closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Manage project documentation within Procore.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and owners.
- Lead project meetings with owners, regulators, consultants, and field teams.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasting, cost reporting, and change management.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, environmental regulations, and government specifications.
- Coordinate permitting and environmental compliance activities.
- Work closely with Superintendents to manage field execution.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and procurement activities.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain excellent client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support business development by assisting with estimates, proposals, and technical interviews when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing industrial construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience on projects involving:
- RCRA-regulated facilities
- USACE contracts
- Federal government construction
- Environmental remediation
- Industrial infrastructure
- Experience managing projects valued at $5M .
- Strong understanding of federal construction specifications and contracting procedures.
Experience with:
- Primavera P6
- Procore
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong budgeting, scheduling, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to local project site as required. A company truck and gas card are provided for all travel. No overnights required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- CERCLA/Superfund projects
- Hazardous waste facilities
- Brownfield redevelopment
- Military installations
- Industrial wastewater treatment
- Chemical storage facilities
- Virginia public construction
- OSHA 30 Certification
- PMP certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) or CCM designation (preferred but not required)
- Experience with project controls and earned value reporting.
