The Kitchen Supervisor is a key part of store management and requires utmost professionalism and commitment to the role.

As this role is vital to the restaurant's operation, a cover letter is required.

Summary

At Quesadilla Gorilla, we are a community driven company dedicated to building relationships through an enjoyable environment, authentic hospitality, and quality quesadillas. And when we say community driven, we mean it. It's not only the communities we serve that drive us, but our own community of gorillas that make up the Quesadilla Gorilla team. Our Shift Supervisors lead the way for Crew Members in hitting target goals of service and quality experience. The Kitchen Supervisor position leads alongside the AM and GM by driving forward the mission of Quesadilla Gorilla: Peace, Love, and Dillas!

As a Kitchen Supervisor for Quesadilla Gorilla, you are responsible for leading where you are! Your skills and ability to learn quickly makes you a vital part of the QG team, but only if you use those skills to help those around you. You may not be the one running the show, but this show doesn’t run without you. Providing leadership, consistency, and a strong knowledge of operations are what makes a shift supervisor successful.

  • Being a Kitchen Supervisor means being reliable above all else. Your reliability is the key indicator of your success in your role.
  • Although you might not talk to each customer who comes in to eat our food, you are a leader who helps provide an enjoyable and authentic experience. Leading through these values is something that takes place both in and outside of the restaurant. Be above reproach in your commitment to our values.
  • You have an immense power to impact your workers, who impact the customers, who keep our business running.

Remember that and take ownership of every shift you work, making it the best possible.

Store Presence

Along with general time and attendance that all employees must follow as outlined in the employee handbook, your presence in the store is crucial to the success of the restaurant. The following are expectations of you in the store.

  • Calling in on shifts or last minute changes to your personal schedule should be held at a minimum or avoided. You are free to request days off so long as it is in advanced notice (Two Weeks Prior). Personal scheduling conflicts will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
  • Tardiness will not be tolerated. As with any other employee, we expect you to arrive promptly to your scheduled shifts. As the leader of the shift, you must set the standard for many operational duties including time and attendance.
  • Leading a shift is a task much greater than delegation. You are required to have full knowledge of what is happening inside and out. You must "Direct Traffic", meaning that you are there to ensure that everyone is working the appropriate position according to the standard. Examples include but are not limited to:
    • Acknowledging every customer coming in and leaving
    • Ensuring all customers have food made promptly and correctly
    • Ensuring that all orders are fulfilled to completion
    • Ensuring that phone orders are handled properly
    • Ensuring that the restaurant is business ready at all times
  • Financials: The drawer must be counted in and maintained properly. Change for the restaurant must be adequate enough to get through a busy lunch and dinner. Ensuring that both cash drawers are counted to par ($150) and that the safe is counted twice a day. Communicate to store managers if things are needed or action needs to be taken.
  • Attitude: In general, you must maintain a positive/optimistic outlook. Any negative comments toward staff or customers breeds more ineptitude. Maintain your emotions and operate out of logic and reason, not out of frustration.
  • Customer satisfaction: Keeping customers satisfied is a skill that you must hone. Customers will always have an issue if you are not paying attention to what is happening in the restaurant. e.g. Missing customer call in orders, Missing ingredients, Miscommunication, and or General Bad Attitude. It is an expectation that you handle these situations with the customer in mind. Buy into their perception of reality. If you are genuinely at fault, then go above and beyond to fix it.
  • Cleanliness: You are expected to maintain a clean and food safe environment. Store should be clean and appear that way from the outside in. Food contact surfaces, tables, chairs, awnings, glass, etc must all be kept up with. Deep cleaning list should be followed regularly.

Inventory and Food Preparation

As a Kitchen Supervisor, you are required to ensure that all food products are handled, prepared, and served properly. The following are expectations of you in the store.

  • You must have a revolving/adapting knowledge of inventory in the store. Based on this, you need to ensure that all inventory items are ordered and stocked properly for day-to-day restaurant use. Food must be received and stored properly to ensure we are not receiving unwanted items and preserving others properly.
  • Running out of an ingredient will not provide the most optimal experience for customers, therefore take action to prevent running out of ingredients before it happens.
  • Prepping the same amount of food everyday will not work. Adjust the amount of prep according to the daily trend, food truck needs, and or yearly events.
  • You must follow all cooking procedures/ recipes to ensure that food is being made to company standards. All prepared food must be dated and stored according to FlFO (First in First Out). All food that is prepped and cooked must be tasted to ensure proper flavor.
