Queens District Attorney's Office
York, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 1/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/29/2026
Job Description

The Queens County District Attorney’s Domestic Violence Bureau prides itself on taking an innovative, evidence-based approach in finding a balance between accountability for domestic abusers and safety for victims of intimate partner violence. We have an immediate opening for experienced Assistant District Attorneys to work on a proactive pre-arrest case enhancement program that prioritizes victim safety and allows us to identify and enhance the prosecution of high-risk domestic violence cases after a crime has occurred, but before the offender is apprehended. ADAs working on this team will coordinate with responding officers, domestic violence officers, detectives, and field intelligence officers to make sure that crucial evidence, including surveillance video, text messages, voicemails, and social media postings are preserved. They will also work with a team of analysts to interpret data from a variety of sources, including the NYPD, to help us focus and direct our efforts at prosecuting and suppressing domestic violence. Finally, they will collaborate with our Crime Victim Assistance Program and partner agencies to ensure victim safety.

Responsibilities Of An Assistant In The Program Include

  • Investigating and enhancing high-risk cases including, but not limited to Attempted Murder, Stalking, Assault, Arson, Burglary and Criminal Contempt domestic violence cases prior to the defendant’s arrest.
  • Drafting charging documents, securing order applications, search warrants, subpoenas, and other legal documents, as necessary.
  • Presenting cases to the grand jury.
  • Representing the District Attorney at Supreme Court arraignments, pre-trial hearings, and bench and jury trials.
  • Forging relationships with law enforcement and community partners.
  • Collaborating with the NYPD Domestic Violence Unit, Domestic Violence Prevention Officers, Queens Family Justice Center partner agencies, and the Crime Victim Assistance Program to increase victim safety prior to the defendant’s apprehension.
  • Coordinating with Intelligence Analysts to review data concerning domestic violence incidents in Queens County, including data provided by the NYPD, and developing strategies to suppress domestic violence.
  • Gathering discovery to ensure compliance with Article 245.

Qualifications: An interested applicant must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have relevant experience as a prosecutor. Preferred applicants should also have:

  • Experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or experience handling pre-arrest investigations.
  • Excellent case-management skills and experience handling a heavy caseload.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $102,000 to $123,500.
