Responsibilities:Direct Support Professionals provide comprehensive care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. Duties include:
- Provide safety and support to our individuals
- Promote a person-first mission by committing to respect the personality, preferences, and strengths of the individuals we serve
- Protect the health, safety, and emotional well-being of our individuals
- Work in partnership with our individuals to help them achieve their goals
- Engage with our individuals through patient conversation, instruction, and arts and crafts projects, and activities
- Transport individuals to day program, medical appointments, and community outings in agency vehicles as needed
- Assist with personal hygiene needs
- Performs various housekeeping tasksOverall, Direct Support Professionals teach our guys independent living skills and have fun while teaching them.Schedule: Flexible schedules available with weekend opportunitiesSalary: $19.00 to $23.50 (based on experience).REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High School Diploma/GED or higher
- A valid New York State drivers license for 3 years is required.
- The ability to write daily entries or notes about the individual's services is required.
- Prior work experience in a human service field working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
