Attendant Guard (Part-Time/Seasonal)
Duties and Responsibilities
The Part-Time (PT) Attendant Guard reports to the Facilities Supervisor and under supervision does the following work:
- Attends, guards, and patrols the botanical garden and perimeter
- Light cleaning and labor duties
- Assists in moving chairs and tables during special events
- Works with Community Service and other volunteers
- Meets, greets and provides basic wayfinding and related information to the visiting public, including groups.
- Evening shifts may require you to be the only employee on-site
The PT Guard is responsible for:
- Protection of the botanical garden buildings, equipment, and collections
- Proper notification to supervisors regarding hazardous conditions
- Filing incident reports
- Maintaining order in the areas of assignment
- Taking appropriate action as needed to notify supervisors, call police, fire department or ambulance, etc.
Qualifications
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license
- Possess a NYS Security Guard Certification
- Experience as a Guard or Security Officer in a similar setting
- Ability to troubleshoot various situations
- Ability to communicate in different languages, a plus
- Customer service experience, a plus
- Cleaning experience, a plus
- Flexibility in schedule, a plus
- Fire Guard Certificate of Fitness, a plus
Schedule
This is a part-time seasonal position. Position is available Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 6:30pm from April through mid-November, with possibility for extension. This position includes some evening and weekend work.
Compensation: $19/hour
