Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the daily operations of our bakery by assisting in food preparation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our customers.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
- All baked goods must be produced as per approved recipes and costing
- Make sure the product is as fresh as possible to meet the volume of the restaurant
- Observe the color of products being baked and adjust oven temperatures as needed
- Decorate baked goods, such as cakes or pastries
- Adheres to the FIFO (first in, first out) rule
- Label and date all products in the display area, walk-in, and freezer area
- Will be required to contribute to special events (such as catering, private dinners, specialty events, etc.)
- Adhere to all recipes for baked goods, be innately creative, and develop original recipes for new baked goods.
- Ensure the product is as fresh as possible to meet the restaurant's volume.
- Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, published recipes and specials, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
- Measure or weigh ingredients using scales or graduated containers to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or icings.
- Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, or other products.
- Place dough in pans, molds, or sheets and bake in production ovens or grills.
- Verify the quality of raw materials to ensure standards and specifications are met.
- Using spatulas or brushes, apply glazes, icings, or other toppings to baked goods.
- Check equipment to ensure it meets health and safety regulations and perform necessary maintenance or cleaning.
- Decorate baked goods, such as cakes or pastries.
- Set time and speed controls for mixing, blending, or steam kettles so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a baker or with an eligible certification/degree
- Possess an up-to-date food handler permit and credentials for the county in which they are employed.
- Be able to cope with the stress of seasonal sales activity and hours.
- Be able to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 12 hours).
- Time Management is a must
- Excellent critical thinking & decision-making skills
- Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of your department
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift 50 pounds
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.70 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 β 25 per week
