Intern - Underwriting

Quartz is seeking one intern to join our Underwriting team from January - December 2026. This paid internship will offer valuable experience and growth opportunities to prepare you for the next steps in a career in the Health Insurance industry.

You will participate and learn important skills in real-world situations that can be applied to your career beyond the classroom to include, but not be limited to:

• Technical Abilities: Microsoft Excel
• Health Insurance Industry Knowledge: products, regulations, competitors, recent news
• Professional Skills: communication, time management, workplace etiquette
• Gain valuable exposure and experience working with health insurance rating engines and update templates for pricing proposals
• Participate in underwriting analyses for small employer group health insurance plans
• Develop and write underwriting case studies

• Demonstrated interest in Health Insurance Underwriting as a possible career path
• Ability to work one full calendar year (January 2026 - December 2026); 10-20 hours/week during the school year and 40 hours/week during the summer months
• Seeking a student pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree and Graduating between May 2026 and May 2027
• Preferred Majors: Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Related Majors
• Must live within a 3-hour radius of Madison, WI and be willing to travel to headquarters from June to August

Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
