Lower School Art Teacher

Position Summary
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their artistic potential. We aim to provide an Arts program with a concentration on self-expression, joy, and confidence building. In addition to teaching hands-on crafting and creative projects, this position will be responsible for tracking and displaying student work for assessments, bulletin boards and two annual art exhibitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school policies, goals, and objectives.
· Assess and grade student effort, progress and achievement using the QLS grading rubric
· Understand and upholds all policies and procedures outlined in the personnel, faculty, and student/parent handbook.
· Implement knowledge of Art history, technique, and standards for Visual Arts with a particular focus on early childhood and “Lifelong goals”
· Create a positive and meaningful class culture.
· Collaborate with other VAPA and Co-Curricular teachers
· Efficiently manage the students in the teacher’s classroom and maintain a high standard for classroom behavior.
· Attend meetings, which includes but is not limited to weekly staff meetings after school.
· Participate in school functions that include but are not limited to exhibitions, Back-to-School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Weekend School Expo
· Communicate with families through a variety of means.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Art, Art Education, Education, or related field.
· Two-Five years’ classroom teaching experience.
· Mastery of a visual arts medium (such as drawing, painting, sculpting, etc.)
· Passionate with a high level of personal responsibility towards goals.
Salary : $70,500 - $80,000
