By stepping out of the traditional lecture role and into active mentorship, this position guides elementary learners through hands-on challenges in engineering, coding, and digital media, inspiring them to think creatively, take bold risks, and unlock their full innovative potential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ignite a passion for innovation by crafting dynamic, hands-on STEM challenges that empower students to build, test, and explore.
- Guide students through an interdisciplinary framework that seamlessly connects Design & Engineering principles, Computer Science & Coding logic, and creative Digital Media production.
- Utilize the Design Thinking framework to guide students through project-based problem-solving.
- Develop creative, customized STEM projects that bridge classroom technology with homeroom units of study to deepen student understanding.
- Design and implement authentic assessments mapped to standards, evaluating student growth in computational thinking, digital citizenship, and innovative design.
- Understands and upholds all policies and procedures outlined in the personnel, faculty, and student/parent handbook.
- Upholds the mission of the school and acts as a positive ambassador for the school.
- Carries out all duties associated with teaching the classes on a teacher’s given schedule. This may include advisory and other duties as needed.
- Maintains respectful and cooperative interactions with students, parents, teachers, co-workers, and administrators.
- Design the lab into a vibrant launchpad for ideas, establishing a safe, dynamic space where students are excited to take risks, think outside the box, and innovate.
- Is a positive role model for students, considering the teacher’s influence on each student’s personal growth, academic ability and passion and emotional stability.
- Efficiently manages the students in the teacher’s classroom and maintains a high standard for classroom behavior.
- Is available to provide extra help to students outside of class times for the teacher’s given grade level.
- Keeps administration informed of students who are falling behind in classes, as well as students with larger academic, social, or emotional concerns.
- Maintains open lines of communication with the parent body and promptly notifies parents when individual student issues arise. Maintains clear oral and written communication with students regarding expectations, grades, and behavior.
- Is timely in communication with parents, students, administrators, and co-workers.
- Is punctual and has a consistent and good attendance record.
- Consistently meet deadlines; such deadlines include but are not limited to those pertaining to submission of grades, progress reports, and comments.
- Attends meetings, which include but is not limited, to weekly staff meetings after school.
- Participates in school functions that extend beyond normal school hours but are necessary for the welfare of the school. Such functions include but are not limited to Back-to-School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Open House.
- Participates in faculty and/or school committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Carries out supervisory duties as directed by the Lower School Director.
Other Requirements
- Ability to communicate in effective English with faculty, staff, vendors, etc. in person and by telephone
- Keep a work area that is organized and safe.
- Ability to successfully learn, navigate and use QLS’s internal programs and systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong familiarity with all information covered in the student, faculty, and personnel handbooks
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or other related field.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching with elementary-aged students.
- Experience with CAD modeling software, and robotics
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
