Our business directly addresses the Defense and Security markets in North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America. We currently have an opening for a well-qualified Planning and Control Manager. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
The Planning and Control Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end production planning, materials control, and ERP/MRP-driven execution to ensure efficient, on time manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will oversee production planning activities, materials flow, and system-based scheduling, while coordinating across Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Inventory teams. This role also leads and develops the Planning & Control team and drives operational alignment across functions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and production capacity to ensure on-time delivery of manufacturing commitments.
- Own production planning and execution alignment, adjusting schedules based on changes in priorities, material availability, staffing, or equipment constraints.
- Oversee end-to-end production flow, including work order tracking, schedule adherence, and resolution of disruptions impacting delivery performance.
- Lead production and materials planning activities to ensure alignment between demand, inventory, and manufacturing execution.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to proactively manage material availability, resolve shortages, and support supply continuity.
- Establish and maintain inventory control strategies to balance supply and demand while optimizing inventory levels and production readiness.
- Ensure effective use of ERP/MRP systems for production scheduling, material planning, and inventory management, maintaining high data integrity and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to provide visibility into production performance, material status, and schedule adherence.
- Lead cross-functional coordination with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Inventory teams to align priorities and resolve constraints.
- Drive resolution of production and material issues that impact schedule performance, delivery commitments, or operational flow.
- Develop capacity planning models to support both short- and long-term production forecasting and resource planning.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production performance, scheduling accuracy, and material availability.
- Lead and develop the Production Planning & Control function, including oversight of team performance, priorities, and daily execution.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, throughput, and reduce waste.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials management, or manufacturing operations.
- Strong experience with ERP and/or MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of production scheduling, demand planning, capacity planning, and inventory control principles.
- Experience applying Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring planning, scheduling, or operations teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex operational data.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
- Background Check/U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
- Ability to commute to the Moorpark office 5 days a week.
Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
