Electrical Engineer I

Quantum Space
Hawthorne, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/4/2026
Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of spacecraft electrical systems and next-generation space technologies. In this role, you will contribute to the development of spacecraft avionics, communications, power systems, embedded electronics, and hardware integration while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across the full spacecraft lifecycle.

You will play a key role in developing reliable, flight-ready electrical hardware that enables mission success for national security, civil, and commercial space programs. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer who is eager to work hands-on with cutting-edge aerospace hardware in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You'll Make an Impact

  • Support the design, analysis, integration, and testing of spacecraft electrical systems and subsystems
  • Assist in the development of avionics hardware, electrical interfaces, wiring harnesses, communications systems, and spacecraft power distribution architectures
  • Perform schematic capture, electrical analysis, component selection, and support printed circuit board (PCB) design and layout activities
  • Support spacecraft hardware integration and testing in laboratory, cleanroom, and environmental test environments
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), logic analyzers, power supplies, and other laboratory instrumentation
  • Assist with hardware bring-up, validation testing, anomaly investigation, and corrective action implementation
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, interface control documents (ICDs), wiring diagrams, test procedures, and design records
  • Collaborate with software, propulsion, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and integration teams to support spacecraft development and verification
  • Participate in design reviews, technical trade studies, failure investigations, and engineering assessments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance electrical design processes, testing methodologies, and system reliability

What It Takes

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 0–3 years of professional engineering experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, automotive, or another high-reliability engineering environment
  • Fundamental understanding of analog and digital electronics principles
  • Familiarity with circuit design, schematic development, electrical analysis, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience using laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, and logic analyzers
  • Exposure to embedded systems, avionics hardware, spacecraft electrical architectures, or similar complex electronic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative product development environment

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience supporting spacecraft, satellite, avionics, robotics, aerospace, or defense programs
  • Familiarity with spacecraft communication protocols including RS-422, RS-485, SpaceWire, LVDS, Ethernet, I2C, and SPI
  • Experience using ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, or similar platforms
  • Exposure to FPGA development, microcontrollers, embedded software, or hardware/software integration
  • Experience with electrical simulation tools such as LTspice or equivalent
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification testing including thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, EMI/EMC, or shock testing
  • Programming or automation experience using Python or similar scripting languages
  • Knowledge of ESD control practices, cleanroom operations, and hardware handling procedures
  • Participation in university, internship, research, or professional engineering projects involving aerospace, robotics, or defense technologies

What You'll Get

  • Ownership – Contribute directly to the design, integration, and validation of mission-critical spacecraft electrical systems
  • Innovation – Help develop advanced aerospace technologies enabling next-generation space mobility and operations
  • Impact – Support the delivery of reliable, flight-ready hardware for national security, civil, and commercial space missions
  • Growth – Join a collaborative engineering team where you'll gain hands-on experience across spacecraft development, integration, testing, and mission execution
  • Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, FSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing
