Overview
The Senior Manager, Accounts Receivable, is responsible for leading the accounts receivable (AR) function and standardizing processes and procedures across the country. This role oversees day-to-day operations and is responsible for implementing process improvement strategies, driving collections performance, reducing past-due balances, timely cash application, and reporting across multiple business units. The senior manager drives operational excellence, implements best practices, and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AR professionals, setting clear objectives and performance metrics
- Oversee the daily operations of the AR department, including payment processing, collections, cash application, lockbox payments, electronic payments, and account reconciliation
- Collaborate with Managers, Supervisors and agents to facilitate and foster a spirit of innovation and inclusion Review the staff's performance, determine training needs and schedule training session
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve AR policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with both internal and external policies and regulations
- Analyze AR aging reports and key metrics, identifying trends and developing strategies to reduce overdue accounts and improve days sales outstanding (DSO)
- Establish KPIs and reporting to monitor performance, aging trends, credit risk, collection effectiveness, and write-offs
- Foster a service-oriented culture and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Customer, Sales, Operations, Customer Service) and key customers to facilitate prompt payment and resolve escalated issues
Additional Primary Responsibilities
- Drive harmonization of AR processes across regions and business lines, leveraging past practices
- Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to provide actionable insights and present findings to senior leadership Ensure compliance with internal controls
- Drive the adoption of technology and champion automation within AR processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Represent AR in cross-functional projects, system implementations, and process improvements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; CPA or similar certification is a plus
- Proven experience (typically 7-10 years) in accounts receivable management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a large high volume, multi-state, multi-system environment
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Advanced Excel/data analysis skills Deep knowledge of end-to-end AR processes, collections, cash application, and credit management best practices
- Proficiency with major accounting and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, AS400)
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive process improvements, and manage change in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, time management and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills with ability to influence at all levels. Ability to influence without direct authority in a matrixed environment
- High attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality in handling financial data
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
