Role Summary:

Quantum Signal AI is looking for a motivated engineer to join our team in support of a wide array of research and development projects. Day to day, you’ll work on a variety of sensing, algorithm, and data analysis problems in support of our forward-looking mobility and robotics technologies. You will apply core engineering principles, software development practices, and an eagerness to broaden your knowledge in whatever ways our diverse project portfolio may require. Work Location:

We are located in Saline, Michigan. This position is in-person to encourage a culture of collaboration and mentorship.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, model, and characterize combined hardware–software systems involving sensing, localization, and communications
  • Write custom software and leverage/integrate existing tools to solve problems in sensing, perception, and related areas
  • Ideate, quickly evaluate, and advocate for technologies and technical approaches in early project stages
  • Collaborate with robotics, software, mechatronic, and other research engineers as a member of various project-focused, cross-functional engineering teams
  • Research, adapt, and prototype software implementations of sensor processing algorithms
  • Produce high-quality documentation and present designs, analyses, results, and status updates to a variety of stakeholders
  • Support planning, execution, and analysis of data-collection exercises and test events

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Solid programming skills in problem solving, algorithm prototyping, mathematical modeling, data analysis, and visualization
  • Proficiency with signal/image processing theory and the practical aspects of sensing systems implemented in hardware and software
  • Familiarity with planning data collections, working with real signals, and validating models
  • Experience with linear algebra, probability and statistics, and related scientific computing techniques
  • Open-mindedness, curiosity, and motivation to learn new tools and technologies and to broaden, deepen, and apply your knowledge and skills to support a variety of projects

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience in any of the following areas
    • Camera, lidar, radar, ultrasonic, RF communications, and GNSS/IMU hardware
    • Real-time or embedded software development and machine learning
    • Detection, classification, and state estimation algorithms
    • Practical systems engineering (e.g., requirements, functional decomposition, and specifications)
    • Modern video/audio codecs and compression
    • Control system theory and the practical aspects of control systems implemented in hardware and software
  • Proficiency in software languages and tools spanning the spectrum from prototyping to production implementations (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, Python, Java, C/C )
  • Familiarity with software development processes as part of a team including interface specifications, revision control, defect tracking, and continuous integration/continuous delivery
