Quantum-Si is seeking a talented and experienced Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join the Operations team owning the consumables manufacturing processes: raw materials, processes, & equipment. The scope of the role includes end-to-end lifecycle management of production equipment and manufacturing lines and includes taking part in consumables development and pilot manufacturing development for NPI programs.
Critical to this role is managing various stages of equipment and process development and being able to lead the following stages: requirements definition, equipment scoping, equipment acquisition and commissioning. Process characterization, process development, and ultimate qualification are also key requirements for this role. The consumable manufacturing lines you will manage and maintain are flowcell/silicon chip manufacturing, reagent manufacturing, reagent cartridge assembly. Labeling and packaging development and sustaining Quantum-Si’s finished goods is also under the purview of this role.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Own the consumables manufacturing equipment in all aspects of its lifecycle from requirements definition, purchasing, early feasibility testing, acceptance testing, commissioning, installation, training, process development, calibration, validation, sustaining, etc.
- Partner with the Operations, Manufacturing, and Quality teams on all activities involved in sustaining a Manufacturing Operation: Sustaining investigations, input into new System Architecture, Manufacturing Strategy, etc.
- Perform and/or review process characterization and DOE-based process development for new equipment and processes being transferred to manufacturing to assess process capability, document current state, and ultimately the validated state
- Lead multiple projects at a time and at different phases of their lifecycle. Ensure they are proactively managed, properly executed, delivered on-schedule, and successfully implemented
- Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices such as - quality/yield improvement, line set-up time reduction, cost-out initiatives, preventive maintenance training, etc.
- Be part of quality investigations and use sound and established problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-whys, fishbone diagrams, etc.
- Provide input and feedback on the capacity and capability planning, annual budgeting, operations strategy for the growing operations department
- Partner closely with equipment suppliers and third-party automation companies to source and install novel equipment to support capacity and reliability needs
- Other duties and contributions which are aligned with a high growth, rapidly scaling company on the verge of new discoveries resulting from the novel technology here at Quantum-Si
Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:
- Applicants must have 10 years’ experience in operations engineering or very related function
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical, Chemical or related field) is required for consideration
- Experience with flowcell coating, wafer processing, plastics assembly (processes such as CVD, thin film coating, microfluidics) and/or experience in reagent manufacturing and biologics (processes and equipment such as liquid chromatography, mass spec, biologics test equipment, and fill & finish)
- Experience setting up new and creating new equipment and processes associated with transferring new products from Development
- Experience with Equipment Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and Process Validation (PV) is valuable and highly desired
- Strong and clear communicator with experience presenting concepts, experiments and results to direct and extended leadership
- Strong attention to detail, organization of files, protocols, records, and data is required
- Clear and concise documentation in protocol preparation and execution
- The ideal applicant would have direct involvement in the life sciences: medical diagnostics, genomics (or related omics) in both small and large companies in all aspects of the Product Development Process (PDP) lifecycles
- Additional desired experience related to the job function is:
- 6S/Lean/Six-Sigma Training (certification not required) & Experience
- Flowcell/Microfluidic Consumables Design & Manufacturing Experience

- Tube/Vial Fill & Finish (Fill, Cap, Foil Seal, Label) Experience

Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
