Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Sunnen Honing machine operator with hands-on experience running Sunnen EC-3500 or similar manual honing machines. This role requires a strong feel for the process, attention to detail, and the ability to hold tight size, geometry, and surface finish requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual Sunnen honing machines (EC-3500 or similar)
- Hone precision bores to size, straightness, roundness, and finish
- Select and dress honing stones and mandrels as required
- Read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and work instructions
- Inspect parts using bore gages, micrometers, air gages, and plug gages
- Make real-time adjustments based on feel, sound, and measurement
- Maintain machine condition, tooling, and a clean work area
- Follow quality and safety procedures
Required Qualifications
- Direct experience running manual Sunnen honing machines
- Strong understanding of bore geometry and surface finish control
- Ability to hold tight tolerances consistently
- Blueprint reading and precision measurement skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
Preferred Experience
- Hydraulic, automotive, or precision machining background
- Job-shop or high-mix production
- Experience honing hardened or plated parts
