RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing/verifying patient information. Contact a patient for any missing or updated information.
- Maintaining and organizing both physical and electronic medical records.
- Communicating with other healthcare professionals to gather medical records, information and address record-related needs.
- Assist with medical records requests and questions from insurance companies and other authorized parties.
- Knowledge of medical terminology to understand, review and process records effectively. Ensuring that all paperwork is properly filed and organized.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Typing, navigating operating systems (Windows), email (Gmail) and internet browsers (Chrome, Firefox) and software (Word, Excel, Google Sheets), and data entry.
- Understanding and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical record management software
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and healthcare documentation standards
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers, staff, and patients when necessary
