Position Summary
The Welding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all welding operations, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. This role manages a team of welders, coordinates workflow, and ensures compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor welding staff to ensure high-quality output and productivity.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate welding operations to meet production deadlines.
- Ensure welds meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and industry codes (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Monitor welding equipment, tools, and materials; coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production, employee performance, and quality metrics.
- Enforce safety policies and OSHA regulations, conduct safety meetings and training.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve production issues.
- Assist in hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for welding personnel.
- Recommend process improvements, welding procedures, and equipment upgrades.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Technical or vocational certification in welding or metallurgy preferred. AWS CW and/or CWI preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience, including hands-on supervision of a team.
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, blueprints, and quality standards.
- Leadership and team management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet production demands.
- Experience with automated welding equipment or robotic welders preferred
