Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced GCP Architect to design and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform. The candidate will work closely with business, data, engineering, and R&D teams to develop cloud and data solutions supporting Life Sciences business and R&D initiatives.
The ideal candidate should have strong GCP architecture experience, a solid understanding of data engineering platforms, and experience working with Life Sciences data services and solutions, particularly in an R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable and secure Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architectures.
- Develop cloud solution architectures aligned with business, technical, security, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with data engineering, application, infrastructure, security, and R&D teams to deliver cloud-based solutions.
- Design and implement GCP data and analytics solutions supporting Life Sciences R&D use cases.
- Define cloud architecture standards, technology patterns, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership for GCP migration, modernization, integration, and transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate GCP services and recommend appropriate solutions based on business and technical requirements.
- Design solutions involving data ingestion, processing, storage, analytics, and integration.
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise security, scalability, availability, performance, and governance requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical architecture and implementation plans.
- Provide technical guidance to development and engineering teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
- Support architecture reviews, technical assessments, solution documentation, and design governance.
Required Qualifications
- 6–8 years of relevant IT/cloud architecture experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- GCP Solution Architect certification is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, security, networking, IAM, compute, storage, and managed GCP services
- Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud solutions.
- Strong understanding of data platforms and data engineering concepts.
- Experience with GCP data services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, or equivalent technologies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with distributed technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering data services and solutions for R&D organizations.
- Experience in the Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industry.
- Data Engineering experience.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms, data pipelines, analytics, and data integration.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Knowledge of cloud security, governance, compliance, and enterprise architecture practices.
- Experience working with large-scale data and analytics environments.
