What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior AI/ML Scientist position at Quantitative Systems?
Senior AI/ML Scientist II
Remote (Boston area only) | Full-time
Join a team building real-world AI solutions for the energy and infrastructure industries. This role focuses on advanced computer vision and multimodal AI, with real impact across solar, wind, and commercial property sectors.
As a Senior AI/ML Scientist II, you’ll develop models that process aerial image data from drones, fixed-wing aircraft, and other sources. You'll work with RGB, thermal, and geospatial inputs to support automated inspections and decision-making. You'll also explore new frontiers in AI with vision-language models and agentic systems.
This position requires someone based in the Boston area. While the role is remote by default, occasional in-person meetings will be expected. In the future, that could shift to one or two days per week on site.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build AI models that support inspections in renewable energy and infrastructure
- Train models on RGB, thermal, and geospatial imagery from aerial platforms
- Apply multimodal and agentic AI approaches to automate analysis workflows
- Work with product and engineering teams to ensure models meet user needs
- Prepare large-scale datasets and optimize pipelines for training and deployment
- Use AWS and other cloud tools to develop and manage model lifecycles
- Present findings, demos, and strategic plans to technical and non-technical audiences
- Document tools and workflows clearly for internal use
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning
What You’ll Bring
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or related field
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience building deep learning models for computer vision
- Strong skills in Python, PyTorch, and cloud platforms like AWS
- Experience working with geospatial or aerial image data
- Familiarity with modern AI architectures including generative and multimodal models
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship usable tools
- Background in mentoring or technical leadership
- Recent academic publications in AI or geospatial domains are a plus
What’s Offered
- Remote flexibility with in-person meetings in the Boston area
- Comprehensive medical coverage, including options that fully cover employees and dependents
- Dental and vision insurance provided
- Unlimited paid time off to support work-life balance
- Equity compensation program
