Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned P&C Insurance Subject Matter Expert to lead strategic initiatives and provide deep functional expertise across the insurance lifecycle. Based in the Los Angeles hub, you will serve as the primary bridge between our business stakeholders, product teams, and IT departments. You will leverage a decade of experience to navigate the complexities of the current P&C landscape, including evolving California Department of Insurance (CDI) regulations, the rise of Agentic AI in underwriting, and the modernization of legacy core systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level functional guidance on P&C product development, underwriting excellence, and claims optimization for both Personal and Commercial lines.
- Platform Transformation: Lead or advise on the implementation and migration of core insurance platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, or proprietary systems), ensuring business requirements align with technical capabilities.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure all products and processes comply with California-specific mandates, including wildfire mitigation pricing, Prop 103 requirements, and recent CDI rate-filing changes.
- Process Engineering: Map "As-Is" vs. "To-Be" business processes to eliminate operational friction and improve the Combined Ratio.
- Innovation Leadership: Evaluate and integrate emerging Insurtech solutions, specifically focusing on AI-enabled straight-through processing (STP) and advanced CAT (Catastrophe) response modeling.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Translate complex insurance concepts into actionable technical specifications (BRDs/FRDs) for engineering teams and present strategic roadmaps to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Industry Tenure: 10 years of direct experience in the Property & Casualty insurance sector.
- Domain Depth: Mastery of the P&C value chain, including Product Filing, Rating, Underwriting, Policy Administration, and Claims.
- Regional Expertise: Deep understanding of the California insurance market, including local legislative trends and high-risk property exposure management.
- Technical Literacy: Hands-on experience with modern Core Systems (Guidewire, Duck Creek, etc.) and a strong grasp of data-driven decision-making (SQL, BI tools, or Data Modeling).
- Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Professional designations such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), ARM, or CIC are highly preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MGA (Managing General Agent) operating models.
- Knowledge of Agentic AI applications in risk assessment and fraud detection.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale digital transformation projects in a "Hybrid" work environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- FTE: Competitive base salary, performance bonuses, and comprehensive health/retirement benefits.
- Contractor: Highly competitive hourly rate based on depth of experience and project duration.
