ROLE SUMMARY:

The Supervisor, Inventory Controls role is responsible for leading inventory management and receiving operations for reagents, instruments, raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods across Quanterix locations in Billerica and Bedford. This role oversees inventory accuracy programs, cycle counts, Expired, Excess, and Obsolete inventory management, storage optimization, ERP accuracy, and cross-functional coordination to support manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and customer fulfillment objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Inventory Tracking
  • Own the site's inventory accuracy program for reagents, instruments, raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee the cycle count program and inventory audit schedule.
  • Analyze inventory trends, discrepancies, and KPIs; implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure ERP inventory accuracy across warehouse and external storage locations.
2. Storage and Organization
  • Develop and maintain efficient inventory storage strategies that maximize space utilization and material flow.
  • Ensure inventory is stored in accordance with temperature, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee FIFO compliance, inventory slotting, and storage optimization.
  • Coordinate inventory transfers between company facilities and external storage locations.
3. Quality Control
  • Partner with Quality Assurance on inventory disposition, quarantined inventory, and product quality requirements.
  • Lead the Expired, Excess, and Obsolete (EEO) inventory program.
  • Support New Product Introductions (NPI) and inventory readiness for new product launches.
4. Collaboration
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, Customer Care, Quality, and Warehouse Operations to support business objectives.
  • Coordinate inventory planning and storage readiness for new and existing products.
  • Support cross-functional projects involving inventory movement, storage, and material readiness.
5. Team Leadership
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Inventory & Receiving Specialist team.
  • Establish daily priorities, assign work, and monitor workload execution.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
6. Documentation and Reporting
  • Develop and maintain inventory KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting.
  • Analyze inventory health, aging, inventory turns, and EEO trends.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure audit readiness.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership to improve inventory performance.
7. Continuous Improvement
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, process standardization, and ERP optimization.
  • Develop and maintain inventory SOPs and standard work.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring inventory issues.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and implement improvements where appropriate.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience in inventory management, preferably in a biotech, life sciences, manufacturing, or regulated environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and an Enterprise Resource Planning system.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with laboratory reagents, instruments, raw materials, and related supplies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using inventory KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Experience leading cycle count programs, inventory audits, and root cause corrective action processes.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introductions and inventory readiness for product launches.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, Customer Care, Quality, and Warehouse Operations.
  • Previous supervisory, coaching, or team leadership experience.
