Context
Our client, a leading Investment Bank based in New York, is looking to hire a Market Access System Engineer to join its technology team. This position plays a key role in supporting and improving a high-performance trading infrastructure, ensuring stability, reliability, and efficiency within a demanding and fast-moving financial markets environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve a high-throughput trading platform built on modern, low-latency technologies, processing millions of transactions each day along with large volumes of real-time market data.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical incidents and user issues quickly and effectively to minimize disruption to trading activity.
- Monitor platform health and performance, implement optimizations, and perform capacity planning to meet strict latency and reliability requirements.
- Support and maintain proprietary systems responsible for order routing, market data feeds, pre-trade risk controls, and trade reporting.
- Provide direct technical support to U.S.-based traders operating a variety of strategies across multiple asset classes.
- Coordinate with exchanges and trading venues to onboard and integrate new connectivity and services.
- Work closely with global technology teams to ensure alignment and efficient delivery of platform improvements.
- Contribute to the design, development, and rollout of new Market Access capabilities that support evolving business needs.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Unix/Linux administration, including troubleshooting and scripting (Shell and/or Python).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, such as TCP/IP, routing, and multicast.
- Experience managing Windows environments, including job scheduling/maintenance and network diagnostics.
- Working knowledge of databases, particularly MySQL, and the ability to write and run basic queries.
- Understanding of equity and derivatives products (e.g., Options, Futures, Warrants, Indexes, ETFs).
- Familiarity with U.S. financial markets, including major exchanges and ECNs.
