JOB SUMMARY
The SAP Systems Manager is responsible for the ownership, integrity, and optimization of the company’s SAP ERP environment supporting multi-site manufacturing and financial operations. Based in Nashville, TN, this role ensures accurate system configuration, strong data governance, and standardized processes across U.S. and international locations. The position serves as the primary liaison between Accounting, Operations, and IT, enabling reliable financial reporting, automation, and scalable system growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. SAP Financial Systems & Corporate Alignment
· Own and maintain SAP financial system configuration to ensure accurate Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow reporting in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and corporate standards.
· Support month-end, quarter-end, and annual close by ensuring SAP transactions are complete, reconciled, and aligned with the Corporate General Ledger.
· Review system postings, workflows, and controls to identify data integrity issues and process breakdowns.
2. Data Integrity, Analysis & System Insight
· Enable system-driven variance analysis by ensuring accurate, consistent, and reportable data across all supported locations.
· Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing reliable SAP data extracts and analytical support.
3. Internal Controls & Professional Skepticism
· Design, implement, and maintain SAP-based internal controls to safeguard financial data integrity across multi-site operations.
· Monitor system compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements; identify, escalate, and remediate control gaps.
4. Audit Support & Transparency
· Lead SAP audit readiness by maintaining system documentation, access controls, and traceable audit trails.
· Serve as the SAP point of contact for internal and external auditors; implement system-related recommendations as needed.
5. Tax Compliance & Reporting
· Ensure SAP is properly configured to support sales tax, property tax, and statutory reporting requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
· Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate tax data capture, reporting, and compliance within SAP.
6. Process Improvement & System Maintenance
· Identify and implement SAP-based automation and system enhancements to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
· Partner with IT and Corporate Finance to manage system changes, data mapping, integrations, and enhancements.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Act as the primary SAP liaison between Accounting, Operations, and IT, supporting users across Nashville, Fremont, and future locations.
· Translate business and financial requirements into scalable SAP solutions and standardized processes.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
· SAP Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with SAP ERP (FI/CO required; manufacturing or multi-site environments preferred).
· Systems & Data: Deep understanding of ERP data structures, integrations, and system-based controls.
· Analytical Tools: Advanced Excel skills; SQL, BI, or reporting tools are a plus.
· Compliance Knowledge: Solid grasp of GAAP/IFRS, audit requirements, and internal control frameworks.
· Communication: Ability to clearly explain system risks, data issues, and process impacts to non-technical stakeholders.
· Attention to Detail: Methodical, accuracy-driven approach under tight deadlines.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 6-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing or corporate environment.
- Proven experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with financial system implementation or data migration projects is a high priority.
- CPA or CMA candidate is preferred.
