Process Engineers develop and maintain efficient, scalable, and cost-effective processes to ensure new products meet customer and headquarters standards. At Level 1, the Process Engineer is expected to complete most tasks with limited supervision, applying engineering fundamentals to create and validate process flows, document production requirements, and support pilot runs. This role contributes to process documentation, audits, troubleshooting production issues, and continuous improvement efforts while gaining practical experience in manufacturing environments.
The Process Engineering team plays a critical role in bringing new products into manufacturing and ensuring they can be built efficiently and at scale. Process Engineers develop process flows, define equipment and manpower requirements, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish new production lines based on customer and headquarters specifications. They validate tools and materials, lead pilot runs, train production leaders, and continuously monitor yield, quality, and performance to refine processes and support smooth mass production.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain Customer Requirement Documents (CRDs) covering required hardware, firmware, labels, and tools.
- Define assembly sequences, workstation setup, and cycle time estimates.
- Estimate manpower, space, and equipment needs, coordinating with HR and Facility teams.
- Validate incoming tools, devices, and equipment for functionality before production use.
- Support pilot production runs by preparing documentation, collecting data, and training materials.
- Conduct daily audits of assembly processes to ensure compliance with SOPs and specifications.
- Gather and analyze yield and failure data, propose corrective actions, and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain tool and jig lists, support repair/return processes, and track spare part requirements.
- Contribute to safety and compliance efforts by identifying unsafe practices and supporting ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (PM, RD, Production, Quality) to ensure process readiness.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, CRDs, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and process flow documentation.
- Prepare reports on tooling issues, yield analysis, or corrective actions.
