POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Field Construction Manager – Day Shift is responsible for overseeing daily construction activities and field operations for projects supporting federal and industrial infrastructure programs in Aiken, South Carolina. This role provides onsite leadership for construction execution, subcontractor coordination, safety performance, schedule adherence, and quality control while ensuring all work complies with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
The Field Construction Manager plays a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient construction operations while maintaining compliance with federal contracting standards, site-specific safety protocols, and company procedures. This position works closely with project leadership, engineering teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to deliver projects successfully within scope, schedule, and budget.
Success in this role requires strong field leadership, construction management experience, and the ability to manage complex work environments while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise day shift construction activities onsite, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules and approved work plans.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, craft personnel, inspectors, and vendors to ensure construction progress meets project timelines and quality expectations.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by conducting daily safety briefings, job hazard analyses, pre-task planning, and field safety inspections.
- Monitor construction schedules and support look-ahead planning to maintain project productivity and minimize delays.
- Ensure compliance with federal contracting requirements, applicable safety regulations, and site-specific operational standards.
- Maintain accurate field documentation including daily reports, RFIs, inspection logs, permits, and subcontractor coordination records.
- Identify field risks, safety concerns, and operational challenges and escalate issues to project leadership for timely resolution.
- Support collaboration between engineering, project management, procurement, and field teams to ensure effective project execution.
- Mentor field personnel and support the development of junior construction staff.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support construction operations and project delivery.
What You'll Bring
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 8 years of construction management or field supervision experience supporting industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and field personnel across multiple construction disciplines.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- Experience managing construction schedules, coordinating field activities, and maintaining project documentation.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced construction environments with multiple priorities.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience supporting federal construction projects or government facilities.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments such as nuclear, energy, or government infrastructure programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial or infrastructure construction projects.
