What’s Expected of the Machinist position?
Utilizing a variety of machining equipment this highly skilled position manufactures custom dies, according to specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Set up and run a variety of numerically controlled machines (Machining Centers), as well as conventional and/or manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders).
- Monitor machining process to achieve desired results, editing computer programs as necessary to achieve customer required results.
- Read prints to interpret job requirements (components, specifications).
- Practice continuous improvement, to achieve improved efficiencies, quality, and overall results.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot, according to set guidelines, machines not performing at peak efficiency.
- Maintain documentation for monitoring job including statistical process control charts, process flow charts.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment to ensure dimensional and finish surface quality.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, as scheduled.
- Maintain clean area and good manufacturing practices and housekeeping.
- Adhere to and complete work within the 5S standards, SOPs, and OSHA guidelines.
- 2 years of applicable experience, preferably within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate machining experience with the ability to read and write CNC codes, and understand machine controls.
- Intermediate understanding of shop math, with the ability to read and understand precision measuring specifications.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Good understanding of metallurgy
- Safety focus with a willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.
